Suvarna S. Devi, M.Sc, PhD. serving as a faculty in the Department of Aquatic Biology & Fisheries, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram, India.

A fish biologist turned taxonomist and biodiversity specialist, Dr. Suvarna has described 4 new species of marine brachyuran crabs and several new records to her credit. Her area of interest also includes fish biology, physiology and molecular biology as well. She has authored over 30 peer reviewed papers, several book chapters and delivered talks in her area of expertise. She is an expert in microplastics in biota, sediment and water and has published several papers to her credit.  She  worked as Project Scientist under Ecomarine project funded by European Union. Dr. Suvarna is also a vibrant media person giving interviews and talk shows on various aspects of fisheries and microplastics.
