Chinnu Vishwanathan

Research Scholar (current position)
Department of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries, University of Kerala, Kariavattom, Thiruvananthapuram

The journey into the realm of research began during my postgraduate studies, where my passion for biodiversity and conservation took root.

My college played a pivotal role in nurturing this interest, providing numerous opportunities to deepen my passion and understanding for nature through seminars and field studies. These experiences highlighted the importance of biodiversity and the need for sustainable development, profoundly influencing my academic and career aspirations. This interest led me to focus on my current research on the ‘Diversity and distribution patterns of molluscs of Ashtamudi Lake, Kerala, India’, at the Department of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries, University of Kerala, under the guidance of Dr. A Biju Kumar, where I am honing my research skills and gaining valuable insights into the field. My ultimate ambition is to contribute meaningfully to the field of biodiversity and taxonomy. I am dedicated to exploring and understanding the intricate relationships within ecosystems and advocating for their conservation. Through my research, I aim to shed light on the rich biodiversity of our region and promote sustainable practices that ensure the preservation of these natural treasures for future generations.
