I started my research career with my post-graduate project on the taxonomy of jellyfishes along the Kerala coast.
Inspired by previous work, I extended my research and began my doctoral research on the taxonomy, reproductive biology, lifecycle, biochemistry, and blooming of neritic jellyfishes. I was interested in the ecology, evolution, and toxicology of scyphozoan and cubozoan jellyfish. Since studies on jellyfishes in the Indian context were still in their infancy, I aimed to clarify the complexity and ambiguity in species identification of jellyfish with the aid of conventional and molecular approaches and to explore the probable reasons for jellyfish blooms in the coastal waters of Kerala.
