From a young age, my keen observation skills cultivated a profound interest in behavioural studies. I meticulously observed the daily rituals of the animals and birds frequently visiting my backyard, captivated by their every movement.
This curiosity developed into a dedicated pursuit and I decided to delve deeper into the subject, when I discovered the separate branch for animal behaviour during my undergraduate studies. Initially, I believed terrestrial animals and higher forms were the prime subjects for such studies. However, my perspective transformed during my post graduation at the Department of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries, University of Kerala. I became fascinated by the highly complex and enigmatic behavioral patterns of aquatic animals. My postgraduate research focussed on the aquarium behaviour of the two jellyfish species maintained in the laboratory, revealing the intricate aspects of their behaviour.

Now my research journey extends to the field, where I have broadened my interest in field ecological studies and conservation behaviour. Currently, I am engaged in documenting the ecology, distribution and ethology of Kani maranjandu, the first arboreal crab of India, within the southern Western Ghats. This expanded focus allows me to contribute to both the scientific understanding and conservation of natural ecosystems, fostering sustainable practices that protect biodiversity.
